 Augmented reality is a fully immersive, CGI-powered reactive interpretation of an environment. It enhances the real world with digital information and expands it. Can you imagine having this tech at your disposal in the ruined cities of Herculaneum and Pompeii?

 Ancient Rome was first "virtualized" by a VR startup in 2019. The provider substituted real environments with simulations and results were disappointing. Colosseum VR in particular was comical.

 Times have changed. In Herculaneum and Pompeii, our AR devices will transport you back to the days and weeks before Mount Vesuvius erupted.

 While it is true that most travellers need a real person guide to educate and inform about archaeology and history, some research their destination before they arrive, and are driven by a determination to learn independently. In these cases, Herculaneum and Pompeii CGI Reality is optimal.

 As with all our tours to Herculaneum and Pompeii from Rome, you will arrive in Naples by train, and on this day trip from Rome by bullet train, journey time is impressive - 222 kilometres in 1 hour and 14 minutes.

 You will meet your AR instructors in both Herculaneum and Pompeii and learn how to use the tech. See what other travellers can only imagine!

 After the AR tours you'll have free time in Naples for street food and pizza before returning to Rome, and we direct you to the heartland of Neapolitan flavours.
